nutpods was born out of founder Madeline Haydon's impatience for a wholesome dairy-free creamer that had the richness and creaminess of half & half. For years, she waited for a company, any company, to develop this type of product - without carrageenan or the "usual suspects" of titanium dioxide, mono and diglycerides, hydrogenated/partially hydrogenated oils. Carefully crafted to be wholesomely delicious and developed to give you the freedom to choose your own sweetness level, enjoy the rich creaminess that come from MCT-rich coconuts and the balanced taste with heart-healthy almonds. All free from GMOs, soy, dairy, gluten and artificial flavors/colors.

Meet the nutpods Team

Madeline Haydon, Founder & CEO

What is your favorite part of your job at nutpods?  As the founder of nutpods, I absolutely love getting emails or posts from our fans about how much they're looking forward to the product.  It's so rewarding for me!

Why did you join the nutpods team?  I was tired of carrying around my home concoction and waiting for another food company to create a truly rich and creamy coffee creamer.

What do you do when you’re not working?  Spend time with my family - hubby Geoff, 6 year old Emily and 18 month old Claire.

What is a random fact about you that we might not know?  I've climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, run a marathon and completed 6 Danskin Triathlons and a Spartan race.

Do you drink coffee or tea? If so, what’s your favorite drink?  Both.  Maybe it's living in California, but nothing beats an iced coffee (with nutpods of course) on a sunny day!

How do you pay it forward?  We repurpose and recycle everything we can, whether it’s for used clothing or packing papers for shipping. We also make a conscientious effort to not use plastic bags. Now that the kids are a bit older we volunteer as a family at our church meal program, and we sponsor a family at the holidays. Also, Geoff sponsors 4 girls in South America. They range in age from a baby to 16. He writes to them (in Spanish!) and looks forward to staying in touch as they grow.

Tara Foster, Director of Operations

What is your favorite part of your job at nutpods?  Developing new products...I love thinking of all of the potential new flavors and categories.

Why did you join the nutpods team?  I was inspired by the passion that Madeline (and nutpods fans!) have for our product.

What do you do when you’re not working?  I love to read and am starting to get back to running!

What is a random fact about you that we might not know?  I grew up playing the viola… not the violin.  The viola was much cooler!

Do you drink coffee or tea? If so, what’s your favorite drink?  I drink both coffee and tea, but an espresso macchiato is my favorite.

How do you pay it forward?  I love to run and pay it forward at the same time. So I regularly look for 5 and 10 k races where I can support a good cause.

Joe Martin, Controller

What is your favorite part of your job at nutpods?  My favorite part of my job as Controller is seeing and hearing about people who try and love our product. It’s great to be reminded that all the number-crunching and all the logistics are worthwhile because the product we deliver is something that people really appreciate and enjoy!

Why did you join the nutpods team?  I joined the team because I wanted to help bring something new and healthful to consumers.

What do you do when you’re not working?  When I’m not working, I spend most of my time with my wife, Suzie, and my baby boy, Avery.  I am also helping my brother produce his first music album.

What is a random fact about you that we might not know?  I am currently producing a feature-length documentary about Bipolar Disorder called, “Manic Expression."

Do you drink coffee or tea? If so, what’s your favorite drink?  I drink both coffee and tea! My favorite drink is probably the Iced Chai Tea Latte from Starbucks.

How do you pay it forward?  My life has been significantly impacted by various types of mental illness, including Alzheimer’s, Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia. I regularly contribute toward and advocate for organizations that fight for a better future for those affected by these diseases, particularly the Nation Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

Michele Silbey, Senior Marketing Manager

What is your favorite part of your job at nutpods?  My favorite thing about my job is listening to people who have feedback about the product.  So many people love nutpods and it's great to hear their stories and how they use it on a daily basis.

Why did you join the nutpods team?  I joined nutpods because I love seeing new products come to life! I wanted to be a part of something that starts small with an inspiring team and grows from there.  And working for a virtural company is great too - as a mom of two I have a fantastic work life balance, which was really important to me.

What is a random fact about you that we might not know?  Probably the most random thing that people wouldn't guess about me is that I am obsessed with languages and foreign cultures. I speak French almost fluently and can get by in a Chinese restaurant with my mandarin skills.

What do you do when you’re not working?  When I'm not working I am usually cooking mexican or asian meals for my family and taking 'scooter' walks with my two kids, Miller and Madeline, in our neighborhood.

Do you drink coffee or tea? If so, what’s your favorite drink?  I drink drip coffee every morning. I also make homemade chai pretty often and have been experimenting with nutpods instead of vanilla soymilk.  Coconut and almond nutpods with cardomom, cinnamon, ginger and sugar is delicious on a cold day.

How do you pay it forward?  I support the organization Mom’s Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, as they are taking big steps to reduce gun violence in our society. My family also pays it forward environmentally by composting and donating used items to our local Youth & Family Services Thrift Store instead of throwing them away.
