nutpods is a deliciously wholesome, dairy-free creamer made from heart healthy almonds and MCT-rich coconuts with a rich and creamy balanced taste.

We believe that there should be an alternative option for the discerning and informed dairy-free coffee creamer user. Unfortunately, most traditional non-dairy and even natural dairy-free coffee creamers can contain many undesirable and artificial ingredients.  Natural creamers can be thin and watery; not rich and creamy. Unlike the existing options, nutpods is free from the following so you can be free to indulge:
-Soy
-Sodium Caseinate (a milk protein)
-Carrageenan
-Artificial flavors, colors and preservatives
-Hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils

We did it!

We started our little company with a Kickstarter campaign in October 2013 (www.kickstarter.com Project Name: nutpods) to bring our much anticipated products to the commercial market. Our goal was to raise $30K to release our first delectable flavor, Unsweetened Original. Well, thanks to the generosity of 510 backers, WE DID IT! We were able to actually surpass our goal by $32,164!  The money raised will go towards converting Madeline's kitchen formula into a full-blown commercial formulation.  Funds will also be used on packaging, production and distribution costs.

Thanks to you, our supporters, we will soon be able to transform nutpods into a bona fide commercial production and make our wholesome and deliciously dairy-free creamy pods available to health-conscious coffee and tea lovers everywhere.

Thank you for your support in giving us the privilege to finally bring a more natural and wholesome option to the market!

Sailing to market.

Now that the year has ended, I've been reflecting on this crazy journey I've been on to bring nutpods to you.  It made me think of a boat, rocking back and forth to make room for the waves.

Full dislosure: I don't actually sail (though I love being on a boat!).  You map out a course. You get your supplies for the trip. And then it's a matter of constantly adjusting your sails to move forward on your journey.  Some course corrections are simply a turn of the steering wheel. Others involve tacking and jibing.

The same goes for launching a product: some of you joined us early; some of you just last week. When we started our company, we included some refined sugar to try and perfect the product for all types of coffee-lovers.  Now we have changed course to be free of refined sugar because we feel that it is more important for you to be able to create your perfect cup.  Our unsweetened formula is a much needed solution for our paleo friends well as for our fans that are avoiding added sugar or who just prefer their coffee unsweetened.  My own personal pet peeve was when I had to use less creamer in my coffee because it was too sweet but then my coffee wasn't as creamy as I wanted. We want to create this level of customization that allows consumers to freely indulge in our rich and creamy taste, without compromise.

After our successful Kickstarter campaign to get my kitchen converted to a commercial formula, we talked to grocers and distributors and there was much more interest in a larger, multi-serve package. So we chose to take the fastest way to market by developing a new product format so our wonderful fans could buy us, try us, and love us.  We chose the sustainable Tetrapak format: shelf-stable so we could 1) sell online to our fans near and far (Hi Austrailia and Europe!) and 2) create a superior food-barrier while still committing to our principles of choosing sustainable packaging as much as possible. So look for French Vanilla Unsweetened and Original Unsweetened coming soon! As for Hazelnut; it's patiently waiting, warming up the bench and ready to be put into the game once we establish how the market is responding to us.

And what about the pods? They are still very much on the horizon and in development.  We love the look of our little pods, but there's been some confusion if we were a K-cup so we're exploring different single-serve options.  There are also some additional manufacturing challenges that we will need to address so it's timely for us to launch in the Tetrapaks. Thanks to all of this tacking and jibbing, we're now able to cast the bowlines for nutpods in spring 2015!

Hope your New Year was wonderful!

All the best,

Madeline
