How many times have we been told that you can only make a first impression once? The same is true for a brand, as it is for a person on a first date, or you on a job interview.
As a brand, we have chosen to take the time to make the very best first impression in the marketplace. Our goal is NOT for you to buy nutpods once. Our goal is for you to try us, love our rich and creamy balanced taste, love our clean label ingredients and love the ability to use your own preferred sweetener, at your own sweetness level or leave it simply unsweetened. We want our customers to be able to craft their perfect cup of coffee, without compromises, and then buy us again next week. We want to be a part of your grocery list on a regular basis.
Part of this first impression is packaging - do we have attractive packaging that will capture your eye on the shelf as you reach for your normal creamer? When you turn over our carton and scan for ingredients, are we free from artificial flavors and colors? Hydrogenated oils (transfats)? Corn Syrup Solids? Carrageenan? All of these are common in traditional non-dairy creamers. Once you open up your first package of nutpods, how is the aroma? Is it pleasant, neutral or artificial smelling? Texture of the product: Is it smooth, does it have the body and volume you would expect with a rich and creamy coffee creamer, or is it thin and watery? I don't know about you, but I can easily put in 1/4c of almond milk in my coffee and it STILL isn't as rich and creamy as I would prefer. Do you have to pour in a lot of product (i.e. almond milk) in order to lighten your coffee? And lastly, what about the taste? You've paid a good amount to invest in quality beans, roasted to your taste. Does our creamer compliment the coffee or does it overpower it?
And this is just the start! Other issues that will influence your first impression: does it work in all coffee roasts ? Lightly roasted coffee is more acidic than a dark roast coffee. The temperature of your coffee served also can affect the pH - this is why sometimes you see almond milk curdling in your iced coffee. There is also the difference between almond milk and almond milk creamer - an almond milk creamer has the buffers that will help stabilize your formula in an acidic environment so it won't curdle or separate in your coffee (Don't you hate that?).
All of these things are part of the nutpods experience that we want you to have a positive first experience with. So we're thinking about and working on these characteristics day and night to make sure that happens.
Every day, we receive emails or messages from you on our social media sites asking when we will launch, expressing how excited you are for us to be out in the marketplace and WE LOVE IT. It reminds us that we are filling a obvious gap in the marketplace and we have consumers for our product.
So thank you for your patience as we strive to make a product that is as delicious and wholesome as we have set out to do. See you in the spring!
