nutpods is a deliciously wholesome, dairy-free creamer made from heart healthy almonds and MCT-rich coconuts with a rich and creamy balanced taste.

We believe that there should be an alternative option for the discerning and informed dairy-free coffee creamer user. Unfortunately, most traditional non-dairy and even natural dairy-free coffee creamers can contain many undesirable and artificial ingredients.  Natural creamers can be thin and watery; not rich and creamy. Unlike the existing options, nutpods is free from the following so you can be free to indulge:
-Sodium Caseinate (a milk protein)
-Artificial flavors, colors and preservatives
-Hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils

We did it!

We started our little company with a Kickstarter campaign in October 2013 (www.kickstarter.com Project Name: nutpods) to bring our much anticipated products to the commercial market. Our goal was to raise $30K to release our first delectable flavor, Unsweetened Original. Well, thanks to the generosity of 510 backers, WE DID IT! We were able to actually surpass our goal by $32,164!  The money raised will go towards converting Madeline's kitchen formula into a full-blown commercial formulation.  Funds will also be used on packaging, production and distribution costs.

Thanks to you, our supporters, we will soon be able to transform nutpods into a bona fide commercial production and make our wholesome and deliciously dairy-free creamy pods available to health-conscious coffee and tea lovers everywhere.

Thank you for your support in giving us the privilege to finally bring a more natural and wholesome option to the market!

The somewhat nutty timing of nutpods.

It's late. Or early. It's 1:15am and our baby girl (our second) is due in a few days and I just finished reflecting on my journey in launching nutpods.

We had moved from rainy Seattle to sunny Southern California so it didn't take me long to trade in the gym for working out at the beach with a cross-fit group I found.  I considered myself active...have done many sprint triathlons, completed a marathon, climbed Kilimanjaro but was still about 15-20lbs heavier than I wanted to be and bored of the cycle of the gym machines and the plateau of the workouts.  Cross-fit goes hand in hand with Paleo and it wasn't long before our cross-fit coach/leader gave me the 30day Paleo challenge.

And so began my education, or I should say, re-education about nutrition and fueling our bodies. The more I learned about food, and it's ability to heal, and how modern food practices have really changed how and what we eat, the more committed I was to giving my growing family better nutrition. We weren't the McDonald's crowd, but we weren't eating clean either. The goal for me is not how I look, but how I feel. When I eat better, I feel better. No more big energy crashes after a lot of carbs after eating something "healthy" like a vegetable lasagne.

After getting used to whole, natural foods, the one part that was hard for me was my coffee. You just can't always pack your own nut milk. Sometimes you're on a plane and your choices are powdered creamer packets or dairy.Or if you are in a coffee shop or restaurant, your picks are soy or dairy. And the portable creamers had ingredients I just didn't want to consume. Partially hydrogenated oils? Corn syrup solids? Yikes. I knew there had to be something better.

But there wasn't.

Our choices on the market for portable, shelf stable, liquid creamer options have been the the same since 1989.And I kept looking for a more natural option. I knew what I didn't want. Soy. GMOs. Carrageenan. Artificial flavors, colors, chemically sounding ingredients to make up for the fact that it wasn't dairy. So after looking for about 3 years for someone else to come up with an option, I decided why not me? I don't have a career background in food, so I approached it from the perspective of the customer - what would I want?  Something rich and creamy in my coffee or tea, closer to half and half instead of skim milk. Less sugar because I want a creamer. I can always add more sweetener packets but I don't want my coffee too sweet because of the creamer.  I wanted bigger pods so I'm not throwing away like 4-5 of those teeny tiny cups into our landfills. Better yet, let's make them recyclable pods.

And, I would want to help support a small company with great products and great customer service instead of a huge conglomerate corporation.

Well, that's who we are. I've designed nutpods after what I would want in a product and I've been lucky enough to be able to set the direction to what kind of company values we have. The downside about being a small company is that we don't have the millions to invest for manufacturing and production.  We are, a family of soon-to-be four and we've invested our own capital up to this point and that's why we are having our first Kickstarter campaign; to give us the capital funds boost to get us to commercial production.

We've had tremendous support for nutpods coming to market. We've been encouraged by so many people telling us that they're excited to FINALLY have something better to look forward to. We've been overwhelmed to already reach nearly 50% of our funding goal in just 4 days.  But we hope to exceed the $30K in order to release additional flavors as we’ve received many requests for Hazelnut and French Vanilla.

As we look forward to a new member joining our family in a few short days, please know that we also look forward with equal excitement about being able to provide a better option for those of us wanting a convenient, non-dairy creamer that we can just take with us on the go that is made from simple ingredients. But first, we need your help to get there so please back us or share us on www.kickstarter.com Project Name: nutpods.

Thanks for supporting nutpods!

Ugh. Just noticed the dohuce above me. Unlike him, I REALLY DO own all the Venture Bros seasons. I love the show and can’t wait to see what you’re cooking up for Season 5! (I’m just re-watching Season 3 now — for the third time — and I think it may be my favourite of what you’ve done so far. So much to enjoy on each viewing. Gotta love the world you’ve created!)
